Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an experienced Site Manager for a major construction project in Cardiff on an initial 6-month contract, with potential extension. The role focuses on sprinkler systems, fire protection installations and mechanical pipework coordination.

You will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinating installation activities with site supervision, engineering and design teams to ensure works are delivered safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Manager or similar in sprinkler systems or mechanical pipework.
• Knowledge of mechanical installation processes and site operations.
• Experience supervising subcontractors and coordinating site activities.
• Knowledge of construction health and safety regulations.
• Valid SSSTS certification.
• Valid Supervisor CSCS Card.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with project management, engineering and design teams.

Responsibilities

Site Manager - Sprinkler Systems / Mechanical Pipework

Location: Cardiff, South Wales

Contract: 6 Months (Potential Extension)

Rate: Circa 40 per hour

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to support a major construction project in Cardiff on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for further opportunities depending on project requirements.

This opportunity would ideally suit someone with a strong background in sprinkler systems and fire protection installations, although candidates with relevant mechanical pipework or building services experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, coordinating installation activities and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with existing site-based supervision, engineering and project design teams to support the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day supervision and coordination of sprinkler installation and mechanical pipework activities.
• Manage site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Monitor installation progress against agreed project programmes and deadlines.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant health and safety regulations, site procedures and quality standards.
• Coordinate materials, equipment and resources to maintain project progress.
• Liaise with Project Managers, engineering teams and design personnel to resolve technical and operational challenges.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure installation works meet project specifications.
• Review and implement risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Attend site meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Identify potential delays, site issues and risks, escalating where necessary.
• Maintain accurate site records, remarks and relevant documentation.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Manager, Site Supervisor or Mechanical Supervisor within sprinkler systems, fire protection or mechanical pipework.
• Strong understanding of mechanical installation processes and construction site operations.
• Proven experience supervising subcontractors and coordinating site activities.
• Good knowledge of construction health and safety regulations.
• Valid SSSTS certification.
• Valid Supervisor CSCS Card.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively alongside project management, engineering and design teams.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience supervising sprinkler or fire suppression installation projects.
• Experience working on large‑scale commercial, healthcare or complex construction projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical building services and associated pipework installations.
• Experience coordinating multiple trades within busy construction environments.
