Birkett House is a popular and successful all age special school for pupils with learning difficulties. We are a multi-sited school in South Leicestershire, and we are currently looking for a committed and well organised Site Manager with excellent knowledge and understanding of statutory requirements, based at our main site in Wigston, you will also have responsibility for our specialist unit at our Senior Site based at Countesthorpe.
We are looking for a professional to manage the compliant provision of high quality, cost-effective development maintenance, security and cleanliness of all school premises and grounds to ensure that students, staff and other users have a comfortable, clean, safe, well-maintained environment in which to work or otherwise use the school and its facilities. You will ensure a high-quality delivery in relation to facilities, Health & Safety, Fire & Safety, swimming pool management and grounds and premises with a determination to make a difference to the school. You will need to be self-motivated, and proactive in pursuit of good practice. You will have statutory responsibilities to the buildings and will need to be a proficient report writer, have a keen understanding of the importance of keeping excellent records and being able to reproduce these at the request of statutory bodies. You will line manage a Premises Officer and cleaning staff, ensuring best practice at all times with the highest standards possible.
You will have the experience and ability to undertake a range of general maintenance tasks and cleaning duties and to undertake more specialised maintenance works, as well as a working knowledge of computer systems, desirably experience in a school setting. You must have an industry recognised qualification or relevant and significant operational expertise at the level to the equivalent qualification, good level of literacy and numeracy and a willingness to continue with professional development a requirement of the position. You must also have a driving licence to be able to drive minibuses for school business (training will be provided if necessary).

Contract type:Full time (52 weeks)
37.5 hours per week
25 days holidays + 8 concessionary holidays (30 days holidays + 8 concessionary days with 5 years or more continuous service).
Contract term: Permanent appointment (to start in the new academic year)
Salary: Grade 9, point 19-22 - £31,074-£33,294 – starting salary £31,074
Working hours: 10.00am to 6.00pm, with flexibility to cover the Premises Officer on a split shift basis when necessary
