About the Role

We are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 Contractor to recruit an experienced Site Manager for a secure government scheme near Gloucester, delivering a high-specification project for the Ministry of Justice. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a technically complex and high-profile development, with the potential to progress into further major projects locally. This role offers long-term prospects with one of the UK’s most respected contractors—known for their commitment to staff development, stability, and delivering outstanding work across the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead daily site operations to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards
2. Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour on site
3. Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and project-specific security requirements
4. Report progress and challenges to the project and senior management team
5. Coordinate with internal departments and client-side representatives
6. Maintain strong communication and site discipline in a secure working environment

Requirements

1. Proven experience as a Site Manager on public-sector or secure facility projects (e.g., MoJ, education, healthcare)
2. Background with Tier 1 or established Tier 2 main contractors
3. In-depth understanding of construction best practices, safety protocols, and government standards
4. SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card), and First Aid certifications essential
5. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills
6. Comfortable working within high-security project environments
