Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead wastewater and civil engineering projects across Scotland. You will manage safe delivery, coordinate site teams, and drive SHEQ compliance while keeping projects on programme and within budget.

You will build strong stakeholder relationships with communities, clients, and subcontractors, report progress to the Project Manager, and mentor teams through challenging milestones.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading wastewater, water infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Previous leadership experience in construction.
  • A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and quality management.
  • Commercial awareness and cost-control experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing safe and successful delivery of wastewater, water infrastructure and civil projects.
  • Leading site teams across multiple workstreams and ensuring on-programme delivery.
  • Promoting SHEQ compliance through visible leadership.
  • Planning labour, plant and materials in line with programmes.
  • Managing subcontractors and monitoring site performance.
  • Supporting commercial performance through cost control and Early Warning processes.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks to avoid delivery impact.
  • Coordinating highway possessions, land access and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with communities, clients and project teams.
  • Reporting progress to the Project Manager.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing the safe and successful delivery of wastewater, water infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
  • Leading site teams across multiple workstreams and ensuring projects are delivered on programme.
  • Promoting a positive culture of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) compliance through visible leadership.
  • Planning labour, plant and materials in line with construction programmes.
  • Managing subcontractors and monitoring site performance.
  • Supporting commercial performance through effective cost control and Early Warning processes.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and resolving issues before they impact delivery.
  • Coordinating highway possessions, private land access and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with local communities, clients and project teams.
  • Reporting progress and performance to the Project Manager.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience managing wastewater, water infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Previous leadership experience within the construction industry.
  • A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and quality management.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing project costs and construction programmes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
