Job description

The Vacancy

Long-term work. Real ownership. Projects you can see the impact of.

About The Role

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Site Manager to join our Projects team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based on-site at project sites within the central belt of Scotland. You will support project delivery across WGM’s growing UK water-sector portfolio. This is a business‑critical opportunity to join a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the UK.

As Site Manager, you will take ownership of site‑based construction activity across varied, multi‑discipline projects, helping to deliver essential water‑sector infrastructure safely, on time and to customer expectations. Using your understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil and construction, you will play a key role in bringing projects from planning through to construction and commissioning.

You’ll be focused on one site at a time, giving you the chance to build strong relationships, stay close to delivery and see the impact of your work first‑hand. To support you in the role, you’ll be provided with a company van and fuel card, with a working pattern of 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am to 1.00pm on Fridays.

If you’re looking for a role where your decisions, leadership and site knowledge make a visible difference every day, this is an opportunity to take real ownership.

About The Team

WGM is growing through secured long‑term frameworks across the UK water sector, delivering essential infrastructure that keeps communities connected and critical services running. For our site teams, that means varied work, long‑term opportunity and the chance to take ownership in a business where people are known, trusted, and developed.

This is a strong time to join WGM if you want to be close to delivery, work with experienced delivery teams and build a career with a business that is investing in its people as it grows across the UK.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with Project delivery & commissioning on an ongoing basis
  • Continually develop and improve project communication and performance within the Projects and Construction teams
  • Manage internal direct reports for all EICA & Mechanical Construction teams, and oversee a multidisciplinary team of sub‑contractors
  • Demonstrate compliance with UK Specifications & Industry best practice
  • Work in accordance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
Minimum Requirements

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience in safety management controls for construction works in general site conditions
  • Background in either Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering
  • Valid UK Driving licence is essential
  • Confined space training to medium risk as a minimum
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card Holder
  • Valid SMSTS 5 day course completion
  • First aid at work training
  • SW DOMS card for clean water applications
  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor certificate
  • Experience of MS Project and or P6 Primavera planning software
  • A sound understanding on planned preventative maintenance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven IT skills including a working knowledge of Excel and Word
Qualifications And Desirable Experience

The following would be helpful, but is not essential:

  • Understanding of NEC form of contract
  • Experience within the UK water/waste water sector, including work on Scottish Water sites

We know that people can bring the right skills and potential through different routes. You may not meet every desirable point, or your experience may come from another engineering, utilities, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, industrial or operational environment. If you are interested in the role and believe your skills could transfer well to WGM, we would still like to hear from you.
