Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their team on projects across Newport (South Wales) and Hereford. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality across industrial warehouses and commercial developments.

The role requires a proactive manager with SMSTS/CSCS and the ability to travel locally. This permanent post offers a competitive package within a strong pipeline of work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Manager with main contractor background.
• Experience delivering industrial or commercial projects valued £10m–£20m.
• Strong health, safety and quality awareness with SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid qualifications.
• Willing to travel locally and live within commutable distance of Newport/Hereford.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day running of construction sites from start to completion.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trades and site teams to deliver safely and efficiently.
• Monitor progress against programme and hit milestones.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality across the project.
• Review drawings, specifications and construction information.
• Manage site logistics, sequencing and resource requirements.
• Identify and resolve site issues proactively.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and wider project team.
• Carrying out regular inspections and quality checks.
• Ensure works are delivered to programme, specification and required standards.

An established UK main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join their team, working on projects across the Newport (South Wales) and Hereford areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects typically valued between £10m and £20m, with a range of work including industrial warehouses, commercial buildings and other large-scale developments.
This is a great opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong all-round construction background who is looking for a long-term position with an established contractor and a strong pipeline of work across the region.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the day‑to‑day running of construction sites from commencement through to completion
• Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently
• Monitoring progress against programme and ensuring key milestones are achieved
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality across the project
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction information

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Site Manager working for a main contractor
• Strong all‑round construction experience
• Experience delivering commercial, industrial or similar projects
• Confident managing subcontractors, trades and site teams
• Excellent health & safety and quality awareness
• Valid SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid qualifications; relevant construction qualification such as NVQ, HNC or equivalent preferred
• Based within a commutable distance of Newport / Hereford and willing to travel locally for projects
