This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong groundworks and civil engineering background who is comfortable managing a project through multiple stages of construction and coordinating specialist subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the groundworks package, including foundations, drainage and external works.

  • Coordinate and oversee the installation of the steel frame.

  • Manage subcontract packages covering cladding, roofing and internal fit-out.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant and materials across the project.

  • Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays or issues at an early stage.

  • Liaise with the Project/Contracts Manager, commercial team, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and relevant documentation.

  • Manage quality inspections, snagging and works through to completion and handover.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Site Manager within groundworks, civil engineering or main contracting.

  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and packages simultaneously.

  • Good understanding of construction drawings, programmes and specifications.

  • Strong health & safety knowledge and a proactive approach to site management.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage a project from the groundworks phase through to completion.

Qualifications

  • SMSTS

  • CSCS - Management level
  • First Aid at Work

  • Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification desirable.

  • Full UK driving licence.

The Opportunity

This position would suit a Site Manager who has developed their career within groundworks and civils but also has the wider construction knowledge required to oversee structural and finishing packages.

The successful candidate will join an established contractor with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and construction projects
