Job summary

Ivy Resource Group is recruiting an experienced Site Manager for a permanent role in Newbury. You will oversee day-to-day site operations on high-end residential and listed building refurbishments, coordinating subcontractors and site teams to meet programme and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have heritage/building conservation experience, strong health and safety awareness, and a hands-on, solutions-focused approach. SMSTS and First Aid are desirable qualifications.

Ivy Resource Group are working with a well-established main contractor to recruit an experienced Site Manager for a permanent role based in Newbury. You will be managing a range of high end residential and listed buiildings/refurbs.

Our projects cover a broad range of work, from new-build properties and agricultural conversions to the extension and refurbishment of existing homes, including listed buildings and prestigious country house estates.

The Role:

• Managing day-to-day site operations on high-end residential and listed building projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
• Coordinating and supervising subcontractors, trades and site personnel to maintain programme, productivity and workmanship.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, architects, consultants and clients to ensure project requirements are fully understood and delivered.
• Managing works within sensitive listed buildings, ensuring construction activities comply with conservation requirements, approved designs and relevant regulations.
• Maintaining a strong focus on quality, with regular inspections to ensure finishes and workmanship meet the high standards expected on premium projects.
• Planning and coordinating site logistics, deliveries, access, storage and sequencing of works in challenging urban and occupied environments.
• Monitoring project progress against the programme and proactively addressing delays, site constraints and construction issues.
• Ensuring all works comply with health and safety legislation, company procedures, RAMS and site-specific requirements.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information, identifying discrepancies and coordinating solutions with the design team.
• Managing snagging, defects and handover activities, ensuring works are completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team.
• Maintaining accurate site records, including daily reports, inspections, permits, progress updates and quality documentation.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager with a reputable main contractor, ideally within high-end residential, luxury refurbishment or listed building projects.
• Strong understanding of high-quality finishes, traditional construction methods and bespoke detailing.
• Experience working on listed and heritage buildings, with an appreciation of conservation requirements and sensitive restoration works.
• Confident managing subcontractors, trades and site teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, programme management, site logistics and quality control.
• Strong health & safety awareness, with experience implementing RAMS, inspections and site procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding site environment.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical, programme and construction issues.
• Strong eye for detail and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship and finishes.
• Relevant SMSTS and First Aid qualifications, with additional heritage/conservation experience desirable.
• A professional, hands-on and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of the site and drive the project forward.

Salary & Package:

• £60,000 - £70,000 per annum
