Job summary

Search is seeking an experienced Freelance Construction Site Supervisor for an industrial warehouse build in Leeds, working closely with the Site Manager to control daily on-site activities and ensure work progresses on time.

You will supervise trades, enforce H&S standards, inspect quality of steel, cladding and concrete packages, and help drive the fast-track programme within a 4–5 month window. A proactive leadership style is essential.

Qualifications

• Freelance/interim experience supervising fast-track industrial or warehouse builds.
• Valid SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid at Work, CSCS Supervisor/Gold Manager.
• Strong leadership to hold trades to programme deadlines.

Responsibilities

• On‑Site Supervision: Supervise daily trade operations, sub‑contractors, and labour on site to ensure high productivity and adherence to the construction program.
• H&S Enforcement: Rigorously enforce health, safety, and environmental standards on the ground, conducting daily briefings, tool‑box talks, and hazard spotting.
• Quality Inspections: Monitor day‑to‑day workmanship, ensuring installations—including structural steel, cladding, and floor slabs meet exact project specifications.
• Progress Tracking: Help drive the fast‑track schedule, keeping workfaces clear and communicating emerging site bottlenecks to the Site Manager immediately.
• Material & Plant Coordination: Oversee deliveries, storage, and plant movement across a busy site footprint.
• Site Logs: Maintain daily records of site activities, labour numbers, and weather conditions.

About the Project

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Freelance Construction Site Supervisor to step in immediately and support the delivery of an industrial warehouse build in Leeds.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will take daily on‑site control of the construction phases, ensuring trades and sub‑contractors are performing efficiently to achieve completion within this tight 4 to 5-month window.

Key Requirements

• Experience: Proven freelance or interim background supervising fast‑track industrial, commercial, or steel‑frame warehouse builds.
• Mandatory Tickets:
  • Valid SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • CSCS Card (Supervisor or Gold Manager level)
• Technical Knowledge: Strong grounding in steel portal frame construction, industrial cladding systems, and concrete packages.
• Leadership Style: Proactive, authoritative, and capable of holding trades accountable to program deadlines.
