Job summary

Bimplus is seeking an experienced Freelance Construction Site Manager for a fast-track industrial warehouse project in South Shields, UK. This freelance role requires immediate start for a 4–5 month duration, reporting to the Contracts Manager, and overseeing all on-site phases.

You will lead the day-to-day site operations, ensure H&S compliance, manage sub-contractors, and drive the programme to handover with a focus on quality and cost control.

Qualifications

• Experience managing fast-track industrial or warehouse construction projects.
• SMSTS certification (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• First Aid at Work certificate.
• CSCS Card (Black Manager level).

Responsibilities

• Rapid-Response Site Leadership: oversee day-to-day site operations and coordinate subcontractors and trades.
• H&S Compliance: maintain high standards and run toolbox talks and site audits under tight schedules.
• Accelerated Programme Delivery: manage fast-track schedule and address bottlenecks to keep milestones.
• Quality Assurance: supervise inspections of structural steel, cladding, and flooring finishes.
• Stakeholder Liaison: lead progress meetings with clients, design teams, and authorities.
• Site Documentation: keep site diaries, permits, and progress logs.

About the Project

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Freelance Construction Site Manager to step in immediately and oversee the rapid delivery of a fast-track industrial warehouse build in South Shields.

Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you will take full on-site control of the remaining construction phases, driving the project efficiently through handover

Key Responsibilities

• Rapid-Response Site Leadership: Take immediate control of day-to-day site operations, coordinating all active sub-contractors, trades, and on-site staff.
• H&S Compliance: Ensure uncompromising standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance, running regular tool-box talks and site audits under a compressed schedule.
• Accelerated Programme Delivery: Closely manage the fast-track construction schedule, proactively identifying bottlenecks and implementing immediate corrective actions to keep milestones strictly on track.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee rigorous quality control inspections for structural steel frame components, cladding, and industrial flooring finishes.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Lead regular progress meetings with clients, design teams, and local authorities to maintain transparent communication.
• Site Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date site diaries, permits, and progress reporting logs.

Key Requirements

• Experience: Proven freelance or interim track record managing fast-track industrial, commercial, or steel-frame warehouse construction projects.
• Mandatory Tickets:
  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • CSCS Card (Black Manager level)
• Technical Expertise: Strong background in managing rapid structural erection, envelope cladding, and final fit-out stages.
• Commercial Awareness: Ability to drive productivity under time pressure while working alongside Quantity Surveyors to control site costs.
