Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council seeks a Site Officer for the Gypsy and Traveller service across 11 residential sites. The role covers maintenance tasks from fence repairs to plumbing and brickwork, plus planned upgrades, with access to a site office and a fuel card for travel.

Based mainly in Stevenage with county-wide duties, you will manage day-to-day site needs while upholding safety and tenant standards. A full manual driving licence and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• General maintenance experience and a track record on site.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Full manual driving licence required.
• Excellent customer service and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Good organisational skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fence repairs, plumbing, brickwork and planned maintenance.
• Keep public areas tidy and tenants’ plots presentable.
• Respond to reactive/emergency maintenance and planned improvements.
• Travel to sites using a company vehicle and fuel card; occasional out-of-hours work.
