We are looking for a Site Logistics Coordinator (SLC) to join our team. The SLC is a member of the Eurban team who oversees all site logistics and heavy plant and equipment arrangements.
Role Summary:
The SLC will be responsible for all aspects of logistics on site; developing and optimizing site logistics solutions to meet the project needs, from pre-construction to completion of live projects. The SLC will be a key member of the Construction Team, reporting to the Head of Construction (HOC), Eurban Health & Safety Quality Manager (SHQ), and working closely with the rest of the site and office teams, subcontractors, internal project team, and Main Contractor.
Role & Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction
- Develop and optimize site logistics solutions to meet project needs; input in the pre-construction process, including identifying all equipment & heavy plant requirements and working closely with the Estimating team when bidding for work.
- Manage the logistics supply chain and develop opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
- Identify craneage, hoisting, and MEWPS requirements and develop material delivery strategies.
- Plan Site Logistics arrangements to produce Site Logistics Plans and drawings identifying lay-down areas and offloading arrangements.
- Provide input in the planning of site activities and selected risk control measures during the planning stage of the project.
- Visit sites if required in a pre-construction capacity.
Live Project – Mobilisation and On-Site
- Provide input in the planning of site activities and selected risk control measures during the construction stage of the project.
- Ensure project and site team compliance with relevant statutory regulations and guidance.
- Ensure compliance of site team with Eurban and Main Contractor/Client-specific requirements as set out in Policies and the project Construction Phase Health Safety & Environment Plan.
- Ensure Site Logistics Strategy and resources support and facilitate project programme and deadlines.
- Plan and select all heavy plant and access equipment required for the project.
- Organise with supply chain and Main Contractor all mobilisation and demobilisation on live projects; attend mobilisation and demobilisation of heavy plant and equipment on site.
- Manage and monitor all aspects (and movement) of heavy plant, vehicles, and equipment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all plant, equipment, and vehicles are assessed before use, arrange certifications as required, and ensure inspections are recorded where necessary. Faulty plant and equipment must be taken out of use.
- Ensure all plant, equipment, and vehicles are operated safely by trained personnel in a legally compliant manner.
- Provide Appointed Person status for projects.
- Produce operational procedures, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS) and Lift Plans with input from Eurban SHQ and HOC.
- Prepare information and submit to Main Contractor; obtain necessary information from Main Contractor.
- Submit RAMS and Lift Plans to Client; review and revise as required to meet client needs.
- Carry out ongoing Crane Strategy Reviews as required.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the pre-determined Site Logistics arrangements by the construction team and supply chain, including access, lay-down areas, and offloading arrangements.
- Ensure training requirements are met and refresher training is organized where required.
- Understand roles and requirements of logistics operatives, Lift Supervisors, Slingers, etc.
- Maintain a good relationship with the Site Logistics Team.
- Delegate work to Site Managers (SM) & Lift Supervisors as required.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure project and site team compliance with relevant statutory regulations and guidance.
- Ensure compliance of site logistics team with Eurban and Main Contractor/Client-specific requirements as set out in Policies and the project Construction Phase Health Safety & Environment Plan.
- Ensure the site team has appropriate and required safety training and is briefed on Risk Assessments and Method Statements before work begins on site.
- Provide each worker under Eurban’s control with appropriate logistics awareness training, supervision, instructions, and information to implement logistics safely, so far as is reasonably practicable, without risks to health and safety.
- Lead by example and encourage safe systems of work; continuously monitor health & safety on site.
- Ensure Site Managers (SM) conduct and record Toolbox Talks and Safety Briefings; ensure Supervisors from the Installation Team carry out all required Safety Briefings.
- Handle emergencies appropriately according to established procedures; support in investigating accident and incident reports with Eurban SM and SHQ.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Project Close Out
- Coordinate with Eurban SM to ensure logistics requirements for effective project handover and snag completion.
- Organise with supply chain and Main Contractor all demobilisation on live projects; attend demobilisation of heavy plant and equipment on site.
- Ensure effective and timely clearance and demobilisation from site; ensure compliance with Main Contractor’s Waste Management Plan.
- Provide input in Lessons Learned meetings at the end of the project.
- Provide all documentation required to the office in the agreed format upon project completion.
- Plan and select all heavy plant and access equipment required for project demobilisation.
Educational and Technical Background:
The candidate must have experience dealing with other trades and main contractors, familiarity with site language, and British Construction Standards and Regulations. The candidate must be experienced in leading teams and providing support when required. The ideal candidate preferably has the following competencies:
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma (equivalent to 2/3 A-Levels)
- Qualifications and experience as an Appointed Person
- Qualifications and experience in Lift Supervision
- Trained in SMSTS, First Aid, and Health & Safety
The SLC must be organized, focused, and have good time management skills. Proven experience within a construction management or logistics function and excellent communication skills supporting engagement at all levels are essential. The approach to complex logistics issues should be adaptable.
