Our client, a leading organisation within the highways sector, is seeking a Site Inspector for a contract opportunity in or around York. The role would suit someone with highway and structural inspection experience, including those at an early stage of their career who are available to start immediately.

You will carry out site inspections, monitor construction activities, identify defects, and prepare inspection reports, working with contractors and project teams to ensure compliance and timely

Qualifications

• Experience in site inspection within the highways, civil engineering or structural sector.
• Understanding of highway construction, maintenance and structural works.
• Ability to identify defects and assess workmanship against project requirements.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures applicable to construction sites.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate report-writing skills.
• Effective communication skills when working with contractors and project teams.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to site-based issues.
• Immediate availability and the ability to work in or around York.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out site inspections of highway, structural and civil engineering works.
• Monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications and quality standards.
• Identifying defects, safety concerns and potential construction issues.
• Recording site observations and preparing accurate inspection reports.
• Reviewing workmanship, materials and progress across highways and structural projects.
• Liaising with contractors, engineers and project teams to support effective delivery.
• Escalating risks, defects and non-compliance in a timely manner.
• Maintaining accurate site records, photographs and relevant documentation.
