Job summary

Highfield Professional Solutions Ltd is recruiting an experienced Structures Inspector for a major highways and rail inspection programme in North London. You will conduct Principal and General Inspections, prepare detailed BridgeStation reports, and ensure outputs meet KPI timeframes and quality standards.

The role requires 2–3 years post‑graduation, an HNC in Structural Engineering, CSCS, SMSTS, a full driving licence, and strong written communication.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' post-graduation or HNC-level experience in structural inspections.
• HNC or equivalent qualification in Structural Engineering.
• BCIS certification or working towards Lantra or similar accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of DMRB standards, CS 450.
• Experience using BridgeStation and other bridge management databases.
• Experience working at height and in confined spaces.
• Understanding of BCI scoring and defect assessment.
• Experience in highways/rail environments.
• Full driving licence and CSCS card.
• SMSTS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural inspections across highway and rail environments, including Principal and General Inspections.
• Complete detailed inspection reports using required client formats.
• Ensure inspection reports and deliverables meet KPI timeframes.
• Manage workload in line with inspection programme and deadlines.
• Identify, assess and record structural defects with BCI scoring.
• Work to relevant standards including DMRB CS 450.
• Work safely at height and in confined spaces.
• Coordinate with colleagues to deliver the inspection programme.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
• Communicate progress and potential delays to the team.
• Support a collaborative, safety-focused working environment.
• Undertake other duties within scope of role.
