Job summary

Keyman Personnel on-site role in Bath seeks an experienced General Foreman to supervise construction works, ensure safety and programme adherence, and coordinate with site teams. The role requires strong leadership, civil/roads experience and a valid CSCS card.

You will oversee labour, plant and materials, uphold safety and quality standards, and liaise with the Site Agent and Project Manager to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification required.
• Valid CSCS Card.
• Proven experience as a General Foreman on civil engineering, highways or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, highways and structures.
• Experience managing site operatives and subcontractors.
• Good understanding of construction health & safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage on-site construction works.
• Maintain health, safety and environmental compliance across site activities.
• Ensure subcontractors meet site standards and project specifications.
• Allocate labour and resources daily to keep works resourced by competent personnel.
• Ensure plant, tools and materials are available and report shortages.
• Review work documentation for suitability and sufficiency.
• Accept and manage permits within work packs for the workforce.
• Carry out daily setting-to-work briefings with operatives and subcontractors.
• Deliver Daily Activity Briefings, Pre-Start Briefings and toolbox talks.
• Supervise operatives, supervisors and subcontractors ensuring compliance with HSE, environmental and quality procedures.
• Ensure works are carried out under safe systems of work and briefings are completed.
• Review site records and document submission to Site Agent.
• Assist Site Agent with programming works, resource planning and plant/material requirements.
• Oversee plant deliveries, inspections and utilisation.
• Carry out regular HSE inspections and audits.
• Lead by example with professionalism and site conduct.
• Complete employee documentation as required.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Attend site progress meetings as required.
• Report all Health, Safety and Environmental incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage construction works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
• Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across all site activities.
• Ensure all subcontractors comply with site standards, health & safety requirements and project specifications.
• Allocate labour and resources daily to ensure works are adequately resourced by competent personnel.
• Ensure all required plant, tools and materials are available, reporting shortages to the Site Agent or Project Manager.
• Review work documentation to ensure all information is suitable and sufficient for the planned activities.
• Accept and manage permits, ensuring they are included within work packs and issued to the relevant workforce.
• Carry out daily setting-to-work briefings with operatives, supervisors and subcontractors.
• Deliver and record Daily Activity Briefings, Pre-Start Briefings, Toolbox Talks and End-of-Shift Debriefs.
• Supervise operatives, supervisors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all health & safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Ensure all works are carried out under appropriate safe systems of work and that all required briefings have been completed.
• Review site records completed by operatives and supervisors, submitting documentation to the Site Agent as required.
• Assist the Site Agent with programming works, resource planning and plant/material requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
