Job summary

Top Performing Secondary School in London is seeking a Site Assistant to join the premises team. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment for about 1,200 students and staff, supporting the Site Manager in security, maintenance, and daily operations.

The role suits a practical, self-motivated individual who enjoys variety and takes pride in creating an excellent physical space for pupils and colleagues. Training and health/safety updates are provided.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in general DIY, maintenance, or building trades.
• A punctual professional who can work independently and handle shift patterns.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS (criminal record) check, mandatory for school staff.

Responsibilities

• Security: Act as a keyholder to open/lock buildings, set alarms, monitor site safety.
• Maintenance: Carry out routine DIY tasks, minor plumbing, painting, basic carpentry repairs.
• Operations: Set up halls for assemblies, exams, events, and manage heavy deliveries.
• Grounds Care: Keep walkways clear, clear leaves, and grit during freezing weather.
• Health & Safety: Test fire alarms and water systems, report hazards.
