We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and practical Site Assistant to join our dedicated premises team. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment for our 1,200 students and staff.
You will work closely with the Site Manager to oversee school security, general maintenance, and daily operations. This role is ideal for a handy, self-motivated individual who enjoys variety and takes pride in creating an excellent physical space for young people.
Security: Act as a keyholder to open or lock school buildings, set alarms, and monitor site safety.
Maintenance: Carry out routine DIY tasks, minor plumbing, painting, and basic carpentry repairs.
Operations: Set up halls for assemblies, exams, and community events, and manage heavy lifting for incoming deliveries.
Grounds Care: Keep walkways clear of litter and leaves, and perform emergency gritting during freezing winter weather.
Health & Safety: Conduct regular testing on fire alarms and water systems, reporting any hazards immediately.
Practical Skills: Solid experience in general DIY, maintenance, or building trades.
Reliability: A punctual professional who can work independently and handle shift patterns.
Problem Solver: Ability to respond calmly and quickly to practical site issues or emergencies.
Team Player: Friendly communication skills to interact positively with teachers, pupils, and contractors.
Safeguarding: Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS (criminal record) check, which is mandatory for school staff.
