Job summary

Careys, based in Cumbria, is seeking a Site Engineer to deliver safe, high-quality civil engineering work on major projects across the UK. You will set out, check measurements, review drawings, and support a Senior Engineer to resolve technical queries.

As part of a collaborative team, you will supervise apprentices and coordinate with subcontractors, while maintaining quality records and contributing to safety standards and digital deliverables.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Solid civil engineering knowledge with ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Experience using digital tools, including AutoCAD/BricsCAD.
• Confident surveying and setting-out skills.
• Experience in inspection, testing and quality assurance of construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out using surveying equipment.
• Check levels, dimensions and tolerances to ensure work is built to spec.
• Support the Senior Engineer in resolving technical queries and RFIs.
• Review drawings, raise issues early and ensure work is buildable and compliant.
• Supervise Apprentice and Graduate Engineers; coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers.
