Job summary

Carey Group is seeking a Site Engineer to support civil and infrastructure project delivery in St Andrews. You will interpret engineering information for the workforce, ensuring programme and budget compliance and a strong focus on technical detail.

You will lead setting out, surveying and quality control on concrete frame projects, mentor Graduate and Apprentice engineers, and collaborate with Site Managers and subcontractors to keep works on track and safe.

Qualifications

Qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Structural Engineering to HNC level or above.
Track record of delivering setting out and engineering processes on concrete frame projects.
Ability to use CAD software for data transfer to/from single person working kit EDM preferable.
Highly competent in surveying and setting out techniques and able to teach others.
Experience in managing and mentoring Graduate and Apprentice engineers.

Responsibilities

Carry out accurate setting out using a variety of surveying equipment.
Check levels, dimensions and tolerances to ensure work is completed correctly.
Support the Senior Engineer in resolving technical queries and RFIs.
Review drawings, raise issues early, and help ensure work is buildable and compliant.
Provide clear construction information to the workforce, including sketches and mark‑ups.
Monitor progress and provide input into short‑term planning.
Maintain accurate as‑built records and support digital deliverables.
Help prepare Inspection & Test Plans and carry out quality checks on site.
Identify issues early and support the resolution of non‑conformances.
Carry out material checks and ensure correct testing and sampling procedures.
Assist with take‑offs and scheduling of key materials such as drainage, reinforcement and waterbars.
Complete temporary works inspections and support simple temporary works designs.
Supervise Apprentice and Graduate Engineers, offering day‑to‑day guidance.
Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to support safe and efficient delivery.
Build strong relationships internally and externally to keep information flowing.
