Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a seasoned Site Engineer for a major heavy civils project in Aberdeenshire. The role involves supporting the engineering strategy on a large water/drainage build, with a 7-7, Mon-Sat schedule and umbrella pay.

A CSCS card, First Aid and SMSTS are required, with BIM awareness preferred. The project offers extended work potential, with long-term opportunities and possible permanency for top performers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or an ONC/HNC, with up-to-date industry knowledge.
• Valid CSCS card, First Aid, and SMSTS on-site certificates.
• Experience managing construction teams and interfacing with clients/suppliers.
• Desirable BIM understanding and ability to read BIM models.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior project team in implementing the engineering strategy for the project.
• Manage materials, plant and labour within budget to ensure safe, efficient delivery.
• Provide technical support and verify the work of others within delivery teams.
• Lead or support project assurance via audits and meetings on safety, finance and quality.
• Maintain Zero Harm focus and support sustainability activities.
• Contribute to weekly/monthly progress and productivity reports for senior management.
• Build relationships with customers, technical consultants and suppliers.
• Implement digital tool sets to support project execution from conception to installation.

Are you a seasoned and ambitious Site Engineer ready to make your mark on a monumental, 3.5-square-mile heavy civils project? I am thrilled to be partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future. We are urgently seeking highly skilled engineers to join three established teams on-site by the second week of September. With up to 10 years of potential work in the pipeline and the possibility for some engineers to go permanent, this is a rare chance to secure long-term, highly rewarding work on a major infrastructure development!

Job Title: Site Engineer - Heavy Civils

Location: Near Peterhead, Aberdeenshire (AB42)

Contract: ASAP - 31/12/2026; could be extended

Pay rate: £17 per hour (umbrella inside IR35)

Hours: 7-7 Mon to Fri, 7-1 Sat

The Project: You will be deployed on an extensive heavy civil works project encompassing water, drainage, and control building construction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the senior project team in the overall implementation of the engineering strategy and framework for this designated project.
• Manage materials, plant, and labour within the allocated budget and resources to ensure safe, effective, and efficient service delivery.
• Provide technical support and verify the work of others within the project delivery teams.
• Lead or support project assurance by conducting audits and meetings to identify best practices, areas for improvement, and matters relating to safety, finance, and quality.
• Ensure a relentless focus on "Zero Harm" and support the delivery of the client's sustainability activities.
• Live the core values of the business while contributing to accurate weekly and monthly progress and productivity reports for senior management.
• Develop and maintain relationships with relevant customers, technical consultants, and suppliers.
• Implement appropriate digital tool sets to support project execution, ensuring engineering is fit for purpose from conception through to installation.

What We Are Looking For:

• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or an ONC/HNC, with up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices.
• Strong site credentials: A valid CSCS card, First Aid, and SMSTS are required (the more site certificates you hold, the better!).
• Previous management experience within the construction industry, coupled with strong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric, flexible approach.
• A thorough, focused professional with the tenacity to advise senior management on necessary actions and immediate redress.
• An understanding of BIM, including how to read/assemble BIM models and produce appropriate reports, is highly desirable.
