Job summary

Romans Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Site Engineer to oversee dimensional control on site and ensure works meet technical standards. The role supports programme delivery, quality assurance, health and safety compliance, resource management and mentoring of junior engineers.

Based in Harlow and working on a range of civil engineering and construction projects, the successful candidate will plan works, supervise site teams, review designs for buildability and support senior management

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of post-charter experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT.
• Experience with robotic EDM equipment.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dimensional control to ensure on-site works meet technical standards.
• Mentor graduate and junior engineers in daily site duties and development.
• Assist with project programmes, quality control, and safety requirements.
• Plan works and develop safe systems of work for each project.
• Review designs for buildability and identify improvement opportunities.

• Manage labour, plant and materials resources efficiently.
• Ensure high health, safety and environmental compliance.

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to oversee dimensional control on site and ensure all works are delivered to the required technical standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in programme delivery, quality assurance, health and safety compliance, resource management, and the mentoring of junior engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee dimensional control and ensure works are delivered to the highest technical standards.
• Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers in their day-to-day site duties and professional development.
• Assist with the effective delivery of project programmes, quality control processes, and health and safety requirements.
• Plan works thoroughly and develop safe systems of work appropriate to each project environment.
• Implement and monitor site-specific safe working procedures.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Plan and sequence site activities to achieve project milestones and programme objectives.
• Manage labour, plant, and materials resources efficiently while promoting a positive and productive working environment.
• Review designs to assess buildability and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support senior management with project resource planning and budget control.
• Manage quality assurance processes to minimise defects and ensure right-first-time delivery.
• Provide technical support and guidance to both site-based and office-based teams.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operations.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years post-chartership experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using robotic EDM equipment.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Full UK driving licence.
• Interest in mentoring and developing graduate engineers.
