Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking a Site Engineer for the Southern Renewals Enterprise on rail infrastructure across the Southern Route. Based from Gravesend, you’ll contribute to earthworks and complex projects while developing hands-on experience in a collaborative team.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, focusing on safety, quality, and delivery. A relevant civil engineering degree is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in civil engineering; rail experience is beneficial but not required.
• Understanding of construction and project delivery principles.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to site engineering and project delivery on rail/infrastructure projects.
• Support Earthworks team across multiple projects in Kent and Gravesend.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and specialists while upholding safety and quality.

We're looking for an ambitious Site Engineer to join our team on the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE), a long-term 10-year framework with Network Rail that is transforming and renewing rail infrastructure across the Southern Route.

As part of our Earthworks team, you'll be based from our Gravesend office and work across a variety of projects throughout Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is looking to build their career on complex infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative environment.

This role offers far more than day-to-day site engineering responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, project managers and technical specialists, developing your skills while contributing to projects that make a real difference.

About You

• MEng, BEng, Foundation Degree, Degree or BTEC in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience within the civil engineering industry, with rail experience beneficial but not essential

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commercial and business awareness
• A proactive approach and desire to continuously learn and develop
