Fawkes & Reece London seeks an experienced Site Engineer for a major £80m+ education project in Rayleigh, Essex. The role focuses on taking ownership of groundworks setting out, QA, and on-site engineering tasks within a fast-paced construction environment.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate with subcontractors and engineers to ensure drawings, specs, and site standards are met, with a minimum 2-year freelance contract and potential extensions.

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large projects.

Site Engineer

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading contractor on a major £80m+ new build school project in Rayleigh, Essex. This Site Engineer role offers a minimum 2-year freelance contract, with further extension potential, working on a flagship development delivered under the DfE Framework.

About the Role of Site Engineer

As Site Engineer, you will take ownership of all engineering duties associated with the project's groundworks package. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Managers, and subcontractors, you will ensure all setting out, QA, and site engineering activities are delivered accurately and efficiently throughout the construction phase.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking for a long-term contract on a major education project with a leading contractor that has a strong pipeline of future work.

Responsibilities for Site Engineer

• Managing all setting out activities across the groundworks package
• Establishing and maintaining site control, line, and level throughout the project
• Producing and maintaining QA records and inspection documentation
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and site standards
• Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure accurate installation of works
• Carrying out as-built surveys and maintaining engineering records
• Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
• Supporting the site management team with planning and programme delivery

Requirements for Site Engineer

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer working for a Main Contractor
• Previous experience on large-scale groundworks packages
• Experience working on school, education, or public sector projects is desirable
• Strong setting out experience using Total Station and GPS equipment
• Excellent understanding of QA processes and site documentation
• CSCS Card required
• Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple work fronts
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
