Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is seeking an experienced Site Engineer for a major £80m+ new build school project in Rayleigh, Essex. The role is a minimum 2-year freelance contract on a flagship DfE Framework scheme.

You will own all groundworks engineering duties, work closely with the Project Manager and subcontractors, and ensure accurate setting out, QA, and on-site delivery throughout construction.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer working for a Main Contractor.
• Experience on large-scale groundworks packages.
• Experience on school/education/public sector projects is desirable.
• Strong setting out experience using Total Station and GPS equipment.
• Excellent understanding of QA processes and site documentation.
• CSCS Card required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple fronts.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing all setting out activities across the groundworks package
• Establishing and maintaining site control, line, and level throughout the project
• Producing and maintaining QA records and inspection documentation
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and site standards
• Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure accurate installation of works
• Carrying out as-built surveys and maintaining engineering records
• Identifying and resolving technical issues on site
• Supporting the site management team with planning and programme delivery

About the Role of Site Engineer

As Site Engineer, you will take ownership of all engineering duties associated with the project's groundworks package. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Managers, and subcontractors, you will ensure all setting out, QA, and site engineering activities are delivered accurately and efficiently throughout the construction phase.
