Job summary

MTRP Ltd is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a major contractor on a substantial new-build education programme in Cumbria. The role is a long-term freelance position with an anticipated duration of 3-4 years, based on site requirements.

The successful candidate will set out, survey and interpret drawings, support site teams, and ensure quality and safety standards are met across the project. Travel and lodging arrangements are covered by the client where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer on construction projects.
• Strong setting-out and drawing interpretation skills.
• Experience with total stations, GPS and surveying equipment.
• Experience on new-build projects; education or public-sector experience advantageous.
• Willingness to travel and lodge in Cumbria for the duration.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Ensuring works are delivered accurately and in line with project requirements.
• Interpreting construction drawings and providing technical support to site teams.
• Monitoring quality and ensuring works comply with relevant standards.
• Coordinating with subcontractors, site management and other project stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate site records and reporting progress.
• Ensuring all works are carried out in line with health and safety requirements.

We are currently looking for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a leading contractor on sizeable new build education schemes in Cumbria.

The project is being delivered by a well-established main contractor specialising in large-scale construction projects across the education, commercial and public sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer looking for long-term freelance work, with an anticipated duration of 3-4 years.

• Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent site experience.
