Job summary

Cleansing Service Group Limited (CSG) is seeking a full-time site chemist in Middlesbrough to operate process plant, analyse incoming loads, and run laboratory procedures safely and efficiently while complying with permit conditions.

You'll maintain accurate documentation, uphold SHE policies and environmental regulations, help optimise turnaround times, and assist in developing site processes and handling hazardous waste with care.

Qualifications

• HNC in chemistry or equivalent
• Good knowledge of hazardous waste
• Ability to assess safety/environmental/plant impact of processing hazardous waste
• Experience with Health and Safety and Environmental legislation relevant to company activities
• Computer literate with basic Excel and Word

Responsibilities

• Operate process plant in line with permit, procedures and consent to discharge.
• Analyse all incoming loads and designate process routes to site personnel.
• Operate all laboratory processes safely and efficiently using PPE and SOPs.
• Ensure provision of correct documentation for all incoming and outgoing loads.
• Comply with SH&E policies and health, safety and environmental legislation to protect health and environment.
• Provide analytical information to optimise vehicle turnaround time, processing efficiency and customer service.
• Assist in developing and improving site activities and processes including analysis of samples for new waste streams.
• Take appropriate action with respect to waste acceptance and rectify problems.

Salary:

£31,000 to £34,000 per annum depending on experience

Role Accountabilities:

• Operate process plant in line with permit, procedures and consent to discharge.
• Analyse all incoming loads in a timely fashion designating process routes to site personnel.
• Operate all laboratory processes in a safe and efficient manner, using the correct Personal Protective Equipment and working within the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure the provision of the correct documentation for all incoming and outgoing loads.
• To ensure that all site activities are carried out in full compliance with the Company's S.H.E. policies and all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations in order that the operations at the site do not negatively impact on human health, the environment or public amenity.
• To provide analytical information that will optimise vehicle turnaround time, processing efficiency and customer service.
• To assist in the development and improvement of site activities and processes including the analysis of samples for new potential waste streams.
• Take appropriate action with respect to waste acceptance and rectifying any problems.

The Candidate:

• HNC in chemistry
• Good knowledge of hazardous waste.
• Ability to assess potential safety/environmental/plant impact of processing hazardous waste.
• Experience of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation as related to the Company's activities.
• Technically competent in the handling of Hazardous Chemicals
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain rapport with customers so as to promote and maintain positive customer relations
