Job summary

CSG in Middlesbrough seeks a dedicated candidate to operate hazardous waste processes and laboratory activities, ensuring safe, compliant handling of loads and accurate documentation. You will work within a team to maintain operations that protect health and the environment.

The role requires an HNC in chemistry, knowledge of hazardous waste, and familiarity with health and safety regulations. This permanent, full-time position offers development opportunities and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• HNC in chemistry is required or preferred.
• Good knowledge of hazardous waste and related regulations.
• Ability to assess safety, environmental and plant impact of processing hazardous waste.
• Experience with Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Operate process plant in line with permit, procedures and consent to discharge.
• Analyse incoming loads and designate processing routes.
• Operate laboratory processes safely and efficiently with PPE and SOPs.
• Ensure documentation for all loads is complete and accurate.
• Comply with SHE policies and health, safety and environmental regulations.

Location: Middlesbrough

Salary: £31,000 to £34,000 per annum depending on experience

Role Type: Permanent, full time

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Role Accountabilities:

• Operate process plant in line with permit, procedures and consent to discharge.
• Analyse all incoming loads in a timely fashion designating process routes to site personnel.
• Operate all laboratory processes in a safe and efficient manner, using the correct Personal Protective Equipment and working within the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure the provision of the correct documentation for all incoming and outgoing loads.
• To ensure that all site activities are carried out in full compliance with the Company's S.H.E. policies and all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations in order that the operations at the site do not negatively impact on human health, the environment or public amenity.
• To provide analytical information that will optimise vehicle turnaround time, processing efficiency and customer service.
• To assist in the development and improvement of site activities and processes including the analysis of samples for new potential waste streams.
• Take appropriate action with respect to waste acceptance and rectifying any problems.

The Candidate:

• HNC in chemistry
• Good knowledge of hazardous waste.
• Ability to assess potential safety/environmental/plant impact of processing hazardous waste.
• Experience of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation as related to the Company's activities.
• Technically competent in the handling of Hazardous Chemicals
• Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Ability to build and maintain rapport with customers so as to promote and maintain positive customer relations
