Job summary

Ceto Talent is recruiting an experienced Site Agent to join its Civil Engineering division, delivering a range of non-infrastructure projects. You will lead site activities, manage resources and subcontractors, and maintain strong client relationships to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

Working closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, you will drive site safety, programme and cost control, and report progress regularly.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• CSCS card required
• SMSTS certification required
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification preferred
• Full UK driving licence required

Site Agent - Civil Engineering / Non-Infrastructure

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Agent to join a growing Specialist Projects team, delivering a range of complex civil engineering and non-infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Agent with a strong civil engineering background who is looking to take responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of projects from site mobilisation through to completion.

You will play a key role in leading site activities, managing resources and subcontractors, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities, working closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, site teams, subcontractors and clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the safe and successful delivery of civil engineering and non-infrastructure projects.
• Ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with company health and safety procedures, legislation and project requirements.
• Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring everyone on site goes home safe at the end of every day.
• Managing site resources including labour, subcontractors, plant, materials and equipment to achieve programme and project objectives.
• Monitoring progress against the agreed programme and providing regular updates.
• Managing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.
• Ensuring Construction Phase Plans, RAMS and Point of Work Risk Assessments are fully understood and implemented.
• Identifying changes, risks and potential issues and ensuring these are communicated and managed appropriately.
• Working closely with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure project objectives and commercial targets are achieved.
• Providing timely cost, progress and resource information to support commercial management and forecasting.
• Maintaining accurate site records, documentation and reports.
• Liaising with clients and maintaining effective, professional working relationships.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with relevant specifications, testing requirements, permits and licences.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, procedures and project delivery.
• Supporting planning and work preparation across the wider project team.
• Challenging designs where appropriate and working proactively to resolve technical and delivery issues.
• Ensuring environmental, quality and customer care standards are consistently maintained.
• Providing leadership and support to site teams, helping to create a positive and high-performing working environment.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and organised Site Agent who can demonstrate strong technical, commercial and leadership capabilities within civil engineering.

You will ideally have:

• Considerable experience within Civil Engineering, ideally including non-infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing construction or utilities activities on site.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site resources.
• Experience in budgeting, programming, resource planning and cost control.
• Good working knowledge of NEC3 contract conditions.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations, design management, programme management, risk management and cost control.
• Experience with forecasting, actual costs and value reporting.
• Good knowledge of civil engineering specifications and testing regimes.
• Excellent communication, people management and leadership skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project, as well as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
• A full UK driving licence.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• CSCS card.
• SMSTS.
• NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience within the water industry.
• Non-infrastructure project experience.
• Working towards CEng, IEng, AMICE or equivalent.
• Temporary Works Coordinator experience/qualification.
• Previous site leadership experience.
• Service avoidance training.
• Confined space training.
• Appointed Person / CPCS qualification.

Additional Information

• The role may occasionally require working outside standard hours depending on project requirements.
