Site Agent – Highways

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + pkg
Location: Surrey
Regions: London, Surrey, Sussex

A major contractor is seeking a Site Agent to work on multi-discipline heavy civil and highways projects across the Southern regional area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects, procuring materials, and coordinating sub-contractors to ensure that quality and costs are controlled.

Ideal candidate requirements:

• Educated to HNC/HND Civil Engineering or Degree standard desirable
• Extensive Highways/Infrastructure experience
• Previous experience as an Agent with a main civil engineering contractor on projects up to £5 to £10m
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage costs, customers, and supply chain
• High familiarization with HS&E Standards
• Experience leading a team of engineers
• Customer-focused exposure to management leadership
• Precast experience and experience managing projects with high levels of public interface

Duties involved will include:

• Contributing to the tender and pre-qualification process if required
• Working within the Company Standards – business plan, HSQE, CSR, Procurement/Supply, Finance, HR etc.
• Planning, programming, setting up, and running projects with support/guidance if required
• Producing & monitoring resource programmes and costings
• Understanding and leading the planning process
• Controlling and monitoring forecast costs
• Delivering profitability that exceeds normal tender margins wherever possible
• Acting as an ambassador for the company with customers, suppliers, public, employees, etc.
• Developing and sustaining good working relationships with customers and employees that contribute to the success of the project and business
• Managing and evaluating risk and opportunity and acting for the good of the Company
• Representing the Company on contractual issues if required
• Able to develop and support employees under their supervision
• Knowledge of Conditions of Contract
