Job description

Location: Chelmsford
Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to join our team delivering a range of highways and civil engineering projects under a term maintenance contract. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of multiple schemes, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
·Oversee the delivery of routine maintenance, minor works, and capital improvement projects as part of a planned programme.
·Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements, as well as CDM regulations.
·Manage and coordinate direct labour, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
·Provide site leadership, including issuing permits to work, conducting inductions, and managing daily site activities.
·Line manage and support junior team members, providing guidance, performance reviews, and development opportunities.
·Deputise for the Senior Agent or Project Manager when required, ensuring continuity of operations.
About You:
·HNC (or equivalent) qualification in civil engineering or related field is essential.
·CSCS, SMSTS, and NRSWA certifications are desirable.
·Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIHT) is an advantage.
·Proven experience in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure maintenance projects.
·Strong understanding of working safely around live services and public highways.
