Job summary

VolkerLaser, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks a Site Agent to lead testing, surveys and investigations across Southampton and Guildford. You will coordinate programmes, manage risks, and ensure safe delivery to schedule and budget on infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates hold SMSTS/SSSTS/CSCS and a Civil Engineering degree, with proven site leadership and strong stakeholder collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Agent or in a similar role.
• Experience in surveys & investigations (PAS 128 Type A & B, etc).
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects, ideally concrete structures or bridges.
• SMSTS/SSSTS/CSCS qualifications.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage testing and survey activities from instruction through to final reporting.
• Develop and maintain project programmes and delivery schedules.
• Manage project risks, constraints and opportunities.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to national standards.
• Act as primary day-to-day contact for National Highways, designers and supply chain partners.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships to support framework growth.

About The Role

VolkerLaser is currently seeking an Site Agent to join its Southern team, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of testing, survey, and investigation projects across the Southampton and Guildford areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of works across the framework, including utility and topographical surveys, structural and intrusive site investigations, and a variety of testing and inspection activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, coordinating, and managing testing and survey activities from instruction through to final reporting.
• Developing and maintaining project programmes and delivery schedules.
• Managing project risks, constraints, and opportunities.
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and in accordance with National Highways and company requirements.
• Acting as the primary day-to-day contact for National Highways, designers, and specialist supply chain partners.
• Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships to support framework growth and successful project delivery.

About You

• Previous experience as a Agent or in a similar role with similar responsibilities
• Previous experience in being responsible for surveys & investigations on projects - Highly Desired (Surface coring, Topographical, PAS 128 Type A & B Utility Surveys, Trial Pits and other Structural or Specialist asset investigations)
• Previous experience in being responsible for testing investigations on projects Highly Desired (Pull out & anchor testing, Concrete, Material and Welding)
• Previous experience in delivering infrastructure projects, ideally projects consisting of Concrete structures or bridges
• Strong organisational and management skills
• Knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues
• Hold relevant qualifications SMSTS/ SSSTS/ CSCS
• A degree (or nearest equivalent) in Civil Engineering related subject
