VolkerWessels UK, via VolkerLaser, is seeking a Project Manager to deliver secured Midlands, Southwest & South Wales projects, including restoration work at Newport Transporter Bridge. You will be on the road and lead cross-functional teams to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

This role requires civil engineering experience with a proven track record in cost, quality and HSE performance. A busy pipeline offers growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil engineering or HND required.
  • Experience in concrete and steel repair.
  • Exposure to blasting and painting contracts.
  • Proven project management abilities.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to produce Work Package Plans and briefing sheets.
  • Understanding of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues.

Job description

VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Major Projects division to cover secured projects across the Midlands, Southwest & South Wales. However, initial project would be restoration work at the Newport Transporter Bridge, on a blasting and painting contract for a few months.

This presents a fantastic opportunity for someone with the relevant experience to join a growing contractor with a busy pipeline of work. The role will suit someone located in South Wales or West Midlands, who likes to be on the road.

Key Responsibilities:

About you
  • Technical qualification (example Degree in civil engineering or HND)
  • Experience within concrete and steel repair
  • Somer exposure on blasting and painting contracts
  • Proven technical and project management abilities
  • Strong organisational and management skills
  • Knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM regulations
  • Ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and implement safe systems of work
  • Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment
