Job summary

Navartis Ltd. is recruiting for a Site/Agent Manager to lead tunnelling and civil works in Rugby. You will run day-to-day operations across tunnelling, shafts, micro-tunnelling, auger boring, and related civils activities.

You will ensure safety, programme, and budget adherence with support from an established contractor. The role requires proven site management experience on tunnelling or civils projects, strong knowledge of temporary works and permits, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Manager or Agent on tunnelling or civils projects.
• Strong knowledge of temporary works, lifting operations, permits and confined space work.
• Proactive approach to health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Ability to lead directly employed teams and subcontractors.
• Commercial awareness to manage programme and budget.
• Full UK driving licence and CSCS Manager card; SMSTS; First Aid; CCNSG or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day tunnelling, shaft, micro-tunnelling, pipejacking or similar civils works in line with programme and budget and safety requirements.
• Coordinate people, plant, materials, subcontractors and construction activities to deliver works.
• Oversee on-site activities, ensuring safety, quality, procurement and project requirements.
• Ensure environmental and statutory regulations are complied with.
• Complete daily compliance tasks: site briefings, RAMS, registers, temporary works, working at height, lifting checks, permits and plant checks.

Site/Agent Manager: Tunnelling & Civil Engineering

Location: Rugby, West Midlands
Day Rate: £390 a day Outside IR35
Contract: Permanent
Start: ASAP

The opportunity

Navartis is recruiting on behalf of a specialist tunnelling contractor for an experienced Site/Agent Manager. You’ll play a pivotal role in the delivery of live projects, running day-to-day operations across tunnelling, shafts, micro-tunnelling, auger boring, sheeted pits and related civil engineering works. You’ll have the backing of an established contractor and the autonomy to deliver safely on programme and on budget.

The role

• Manage day-to-day tunnelling, shaft, micro-tunnelling, auger boring, sheeted pit and associated civils works in line with the programme, specification, budget and project safety requirements
• Take accountability for safely coordinating the people, plant, materials, subcontractors and construction activities needed to deliver the works
• Oversee and direct all on-site activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, procurement and project requirements
• Ensure all relevant environmental (including flora and fauna), and statutory and governmental legislation is complied with
• Carry out all compliance requirements daily, including but not limited to:
• Site briefings
• RAMS in place and briefed
• All registers kept up to date
• Temporary works registers in place
• Working at height requirements
• Lifting operation checks
• Permits issued as required
• Plant checks

About you

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Agent on tunnelling, shaft, micro-tunnelling, pipejacking, auger boring or similar civil engineering projects
• Strong working knowledge of temporary works, lifting operations, permit systems and confined space working
• Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, with a proactive approach to site compliance
• Able to lead, motivate and coordinate directly employed teams, subcontractors and supply chain
• Commercial awareness, with the ability to manage programme and budget
• Valid CSCS card (Manager level), SMSTS, [First Aid, CCNSG/other as required]
• Confined space and [other relevant tickets]
