Job summary

Granite Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Agent to lead civil engineering and utility projects across the Highlands. You will be responsible for safe, efficient, and compliant delivery, managing site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and budget targets.

The role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and a solid knowledge of utilities, drainage, groundworks and reinforced concrete structures.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering civil engineering, utility, infrastructure or groundworks projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Strong knowledge of utilities, drainage, groundworks and reinforced concrete works.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery of civil engineering and utility projects.
• Ensure delivery safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Lead site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and review RAMS, programmes and construction documentation.
• Monitor progress and report to senior management.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to join a growing civil engineering and utilities team delivering a range of infrastructure projects across the Highlands. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of projects, ensuring all works are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering and utility projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Lead site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Produce and review RAMS, programmes, and construction documentation.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors effectively.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
• Manage client relationships and attend progress meetings.
• Identify and resolve technical and operational issues.
• Assist with project planning, cost control, and commercial awareness.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Previous experience as a Site Agent, Senior Engineer, or similar role within civil engineering or utilities.
• Strong knowledge of utilities, infrastructure works, groundworks, drainage, and reinforced concrete structures.
• Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project reporting systems.
