Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Site Agent for a long-term highways scheme based in Cambridge. You will lead day-to-day site operations, manage site teams and subcontractors, and ensure safety, programme, budget and quality compliance on all works.

Ideally you have a civil engineering background with National Highways or local authority project exposure and hold SMSTS, CSCS (Gold/Black) and First Aid. This contract role offers an outside IR35 environment and a daily rate of £350-£400.

Qualifications

• Must have an engineering background with civil/Highways experience.
• SMSTS and CSCS are essential site qualifications.
• First Aid certification is required.

About the Role

Are you a Site Agent looking for a long-term, outside IR35 contract? We're looking for an experienced Site Agent to join a highways scheme in the Cambridge area. This is a great opportunity for someone with an engineering background and experience on National Highways and local authority projects to take ownership of site delivery. You'll be responsible for running day-to-day site operations, managing site teams and subcontractors, and making sure works are delivered safely, on programme, on budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of highways works for National Highways and local authority clients.
• Planning and coordinating site activities, resources and subcontractors.
• Making sure works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification.
• Maintaining compliance with National Highways, local authority and health & safety requirements.
• Overseeing setting out, temporary works and quality records alongside the engineering team.
• Acting as the main point of contact on site for the client, engineers and stakeholders.
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, permits, site diaries and progress reports.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Agent on highways and civil engineering schemes.
• A background on National Highways and/or local authority projects.
• An engineering background, such as a civil engineering qualification or progression from a site engineer role.
