Job summary

Mitie Group plc. seeks a Silo Hygiene Operative at McVitie’s in Carlisle to uphold strict food hygiene and cleaning standards. Your responsibilities include deep cleans, routine cleaning, and maintaining hygienic production areas to-ready state.

You will follow safety protocols, use chemicals and PPE correctly, and collaborate with production teams to meet targets. Prior cleaning experience is beneficial; strong English communication is required for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Complete cleaning tasks in line with Cleaning Work Instructions and site procedures.
• Perform deep cleans, strip-down cleans and post-production cleaning activities, if required.
• Ensure all equipment and work areas are left hygienic, safe and ready for production.
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene and contamination control procedures.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment and PPE in accordance with training and COSHH requirements.
• Report defects, hazards, contamination risks and equipment damage.
• Complete cleaning records and hygiene documentation accurately.
• Support audit readiness and maintain high standards across the site.
• Work closely with supervisors, production teams and colleagues to achieve operational targets.

Job Title: Silo Hygiene Operative

Contract: Permanent

Type of Employment: Full time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £12.71 per hour

Shift pattern: Monday - Friday 6am - 2pm

Location: McVitie's, 54 Church Street, Carlisle, Cumbria, England, CA2 5TG
