Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a Silo Hygiene Operative at McVitie’s in Carlisle to perform routine cleaning, deep cleans, and post-production cleaning tasks. The role runs Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm, with a permanent full-time contract and 40 hours weekly.

The position requires basic English communication, a flexible approach, and a proactive attitude. Training on COSHH and safety procedures will be provided, with focus on food safety and hygiene standards at the site.

Responsibilities

• Complete cleaning tasks in line with Cleaning Work Instructions and site procedures.
• Perform deep cleans, strip-down cleans and post-production cleaning activities, if required.
• Ensure all equipment and work areas are left hygienic, safe and ready for production.
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene and contamination control procedures.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment and PPE in accordance with training and COSHH requirements.
• Report defects, hazards, contamination risks and equipment damage.
• Complete cleaning records and hygiene documentation accurately.
• Support audit readiness and maintain high standards across the site.
• Work closely with supervisors, production teams and colleagues to achieve operational targets.
