Job summary

Westray Recruitment Consultants Ltd is seeking a dependable Shunter Driver in Redcar to support a busy operation. You will safely move vehicles and trailers, perform checks, and follow site safety rules across a 24/7 schedule.

The role offers flexible day and night shifts with opportunities to increase earnings through additional shifts, in a busy Teesside setting. Prior shunting or commercial driving helps, but the right attitude and flexibility are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Available for both day and night shifts, including weekends.
• Willing to work across a seven-day operation.
• Shunter driving experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely moving and positioning vehicles and trailers around the site.
• Carrying out vehicle checks before use.
• Following all site procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and other teams.
• Ensuring vehicles and trailers are positioned correctly and securely.
• Reporting defects, damage or safety concerns immediately.
• Supporting the wider operation when required.
• Maintaining a professional and safety-conscious approach.

Shunter Driver

Location: Redcar

Pay Rate: £16.17 per hour

Shifts: Mainly 12-hour day and night shifts

Contract: Temporary, ongoing work

The Role

Westray Recruitment is looking for dependable and flexible Shunter Drivers to support a busy, fast-paced operation in the Teesside area.

You will be responsible for safely moving and positioning vehicles and trailers around the site, ensuring operations continue smoothly and efficiently. As the site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we are looking for candidates who can work a mixture of day shifts, night shifts and weekends.

This role offers excellent earning potential for candidates who are willing to remain flexible and take on additional shifts when available.

Key Responsibilities

The Person

The successful candidate must:

• Hold a full, clean UK driving licence
• Be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Be available for both day and night shifts
• Be willing to work weekends
• Be flexible and available across a seven-day operation
• Be comfortable working mainly 12-hour shifts
• Have a reliable, punctual and responsible attitude
• Be able to follow instructions and work safely in a busy environment
• Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Previous shunting or commercial driving experience would be advantageous, but candidates with the right attitude, flexibility and driving ability are encouraged to apply.
