Job summary

Müller Group in Skelmersdale is recruiting for Class 1 Shunter Drivers based at the Skelmersdale Depot. The role is full-time and permanent, with site-based shifts from 6:00 to 18:00 on a 4 on 4 off pattern.

Pay starts at £17.30 per hour, rising to £28.42 per hour depending on shift pattern, plus a weekly £20 supplement and overtime at £19.46 per hour. 23 days’ annual leave and a company pension are among the benefits.

Qualifications

• Terberg experience is mandatory.
• HGV Class 1 licence is mandatory.
• Current CPC and digital driving card are mandatory.
• No more than 6 minor points on licence.
• Team player who can also work on own initiative.
• Demonstrates a strong work attitude and reliability.
• Must be comfortable with the physical nature of the role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate onsite bay movements ensuring equipment is fully compliant.
• Prioritise safety and respect all road users.
• Complete driver and vehicle checks accurately.
• Conduct regular vehicle/trailer safety and compliance checks; report defects.
• Identify and mitigate safety, health and workplace risks.

Job description

We are recruiting for Class 1 Shunter Drivers at our Skelmersdale Depot within the Muller Milk and Ingredients Distribution Business.

Contract: Full Time / Permanent

Location: Skelmersdale Depot - WN8 8DZ

Shift Pattern: 4on 4off 6:00am-18:00pm - Role will be yard based

Hourly Rate: From £17.30 per hour - £28.42 per hour dependent on shift pattern (Plus £20 weekly supplement)

Overtime rate: £19.46 per hour

Class 1 Shunter Driver Key Skills & Experience

• Terberg experience (mandatory)
• HGV Class 1 Licence (mandatory)
• Current CPC and digital driving card (mandatory)
• No more than 6 minor points on driving licence (No CDs, DDs, DRs or INs)
• An effective team member who works well on their own initiative
• Demonstrates an excellent attitude to work
• Self - motivated with a positive attitude and extremely reliable
• Must be comfortable with the physical nature of the role

Class 1 Shunter Driver Role & Responsibilities

• Coordinate the onsite bay movements ensuring that all equipment is fully compliant
• Puts safety first and respects all other road users.
• Diligent in ensuring driver and vehicle checks are completed correctly.
• Conduct regular checks on all vehicles and trailers to ensure they meet the necessary safety and compliance standards. If a vehicle or trailer is not compliant defect to the workshop for repairs or maintenance.
• Prioritise, assess, and control safety, health, and workplace risks. Identify potential hazards and take preventive measures.
