Job summary

Sussex Plumbing Supplies, part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), is recruiting a Showroom Manager for our Bexhill showroom. You will lead daily operations, develop your team, grow sales, and deliver an exceptional customer experience for homeowners, tradespeople and designers.

Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30-17:00; alternate Saturdays 08:00-12:00

The role

We're looking for an experienced Showroom Manager to lead our Bexhill showroom and drive its continued success. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee daily operations, develop your team, grow sales, and create an exceptional customer experience.

You’ll combine commercial awareness, product knowledge, and people leadership to ensure the showroom remains a destination of choice for homeowners, tradespeople, architects, and designers alike.

What you’ll actually be doing

• Lead the showroom - oversee day-to-day operations and create a professional, welcoming environment for every customer.
• Drive sales growth - manage quotations, follow up opportunities, and consistently achieve or exceed sales targets.
• Deliver expert advice - help customers choose the right products for their projects, offering practical and design-led solutions.
• Build strong relationships - work closely with trade customers, architects, designers, and homeowners to understand their needs.
• Lead and develop your team - coach, support, and motivate showroom colleagues to deliver excellent results.
• Keep standards high - ensure displays, merchandising, and product presentations reflect current trends and promotions.
• Manage stock and supplier relationships - coordinate with suppliers and warehouse teams to maintain product availability.
• Resolve customer issues - handle enquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Monitor performance - maintain accurate records and report on sales, activity, and showroom performance.
• Support design consultations - create and present layouts using CAD or design software where applicable.

What you’ll bring

• Experience and leadership
• Proven showroom sales experience in a builders’ merchant, KBB, interiors or a related environment.
• Confident leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to support and motivate colleagues.
• Customer and commercial skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Strong commercial awareness and a proven record of achieving sales targets.
• Product and systems knowledge
• Relevant product knowledge across bathrooms, kitchens, tiles, flooring, joinery or interiors.
• Experience using point-of-sale and customer relationship management systems.
• Experience with CAD or design software is desirable.
• Practical requirements
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.
• A full UK driving licence.
