Job summary

BAE Systems in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Welder for a 12-month contract, working on the latest generation of naval frigates, the Type 26. The role covers both shop and ship environments with exposure to automated welding equipment where possible.

You must have SVQ level 3 or equivalent and a modern apprenticeship. Wages are paid on hourly rates with standard shifts and overtime, in a role requiring strict adherence to SHE policies and quality checks.

Qualifications

• SVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Modern apprenticeship in a relevant trade.

Responsibilities

• Weld on naval frigates (Type 26) in shop and ship environments.
• Operate automated/mechanised welding equipment where appropriate.
• Weld sub-assemblies and piece parts to larger builds such as blocks, links and seams.
• Adhere to SHE processes and policies, including ventilation, PPE and RPE.
• Perform quality checks after each job to meet business requirements and high standards.
