Job description

Our client, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke products, is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Shipping Assistant to join their team in Staplehurst, Kent. This role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis (at least 25 hours a week).

As a Shipping Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Import/Export Manager with daily shipping activities. Your attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will ensure the timely delivery of goods and materials to customers throughout the UK, Europe, USA, and Asia.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with checking, scanning, and filing shipping documentation
  2. Arrange carriers to ship goods and materials
  3. Generate necessary shipping paperwork, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and labels
  4. Ensure on-time delivery of products
  5. Liaise with the sales department regarding shipping quotations
  6. Provide cover for the packing department when required
Requirements:
  1. Educated to at least GCSE level, including English/Maths
  2. Ideally 12 months experience in a transferable administrative role (full training provided)
  3. Highly organised approach with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and compliance
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ideally MRP systems or similar
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use own initiative
  7. Ability to work to deadlines and collaborate effectively in a team
  8. Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with suppliers and customers
