Shipboard Engine Fitter — 3on/3off Contract

Job summary

V.Group is seeking an experienced Engine Fitter to join BALEARIA RoRo ferries aboard ship. The role covers daily maintenance and repairs of engines and mechanical systems under the Engineer in charge, with a 3 months on/3 months off contract.

Applicants must hold STCW 95 and ASE A-III/5 certificates, be physically fit, fluent in English, and able to work in confined spaces and under shipboard conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW 95 certification.
• Valid ASE Certification A-III/5.
• Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
• Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
• Physically and medically fit.
• Moral integrity is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance and cleaning of engines and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge.
• Repair and overhaul hydraulic equipment and valves.
• Provide installation and breakdown services.
• Be part of the technical loading team during intake of provisions.
• Provide technical assistance during ship tendering operations.
• Perform general maintenance (cleaning, painting, repairs).
• Keep Chief/Staff/Duty Engineer informed of problems and safety issues.
• Inform on-duty Engineer when leaving engine room.
• Maintain cleanliness of engine room and tools.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations, reporting non-compliance.
