Job summary

Balearia RoRo Passenger Ferries invites applications for a 3rd Engineer to join our engine department aboard RoRo ferries. Embarkation is required; contract is 3 months ±1.

You will maintain engine room watches, operate and repair Main and Auxiliary engines, coordinate with other departments, and ensure safety and compliance.

Candidates must hold STCW95, CoC A-III/1, relevant experience on passenger ships and English fluency; AMOS/Microsoft knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW95 certification.
• Valid CoC A-III/1.
• Appropriate certification as required by regulations.
• Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role, with preferable experience with Wartsila engines.
• Physically and medically fit.
• Moral integrity is required.
• Public Health, Sanitation, and Environmental training courses are appreciated.
• Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and manuals.
• Alaska experience is a plus.
• It is recommended to have Public Health, Coast Guard, and Port State Control experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as Chief Engineer's representative during Engine Room watch; supervise on-watch team and ensure watches are carried out properly.
• Operate and maintain Main Engine and associated Auxiliary Engines.
• Execute maintenance, operation and repairs in the Engine Room.
• Ensure seaworthiness of the engine department and manage stock of spare parts and consumables.
• Delegate work to Oilers and Wipers; oversee safety and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain engine room logs and report to Chief Engineer / Staff Engineer for PM entries.
• Adhere to ISM/SOLAS/MARPOL and related regulations; ensure proper safety practices.
