RG Setsquare is seeking an experienced Shift Technician to join its in-house data centre team at Liverpool Street, London. Working 7am–7pm on continental days, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on critical electrical and mechanical plant to ensure 24/7 uptime.

You'll monitor building management systems, update CMMS records, supervise contractors, and contribute to safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a data centre or critical environment.
• Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical building services maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Technician to join a world-class data centre operator at their London facility in Liverpool Street.

This role is ideal for an electrically qualified engineer looking to develop their career within a critical environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining the site's mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability across electrical and mechanical systems that support a 24/7 operation.

Working as part of a dedicated technical operations team, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive faults and supporting the safe operation of the data centre's critical infrastructure.

The Role

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on critical infrastructure.
• Monitoring and operating building management and critical monitoring systems.
• Maintaining electrical and mechanical plant including UPS systems, generators, switchgear and cooling equipment.
• Responding to alarms, incidents and equipment failures.
• Supporting emergency response activities and fault diagnosis.
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Supervising contractors and specialist service providers where required.
• Updating maintenance records and CMMS systems accurately.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
• Assisting with compliance, statutory inspections and operational reporting.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working within a data centre, critical environment, commercial building, banking, healthcare, pharmaceutical or industrial setting.
• Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical building services maintenance.
• Understanding of critical infrastructure such as UPS systems, generators and cooling plant.
• Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems would be beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively within a shift team.
• A proactive approach with a focus on safety, quality and operational excellence.
