Job summary

Thames Water in Isleworth is seeking a Shift Technician to support the safe operation of sludge and pasteurisation assets at Mogden STW. The role is full-time with a salary between £28,335 and £38,000 per year, depending on experience.

You will monitor plant performance, work with Process Controllers, and help ensure compliance with environmental permits. 12-hour rotating day/night shifts and a strong health and safety culture are essential.

  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with site teams.
  • Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Operate treatment processes in line with environmental permits and site operating standards
  • Monitoring asset performance and making adjustments to optimise efficiency and compliance
  • Working closely with Process Controllers and the wider operations team to support site performance
  • Escalating operational, maintenance, or safety concerns promptly to ensure full visibility
  • Carrying out safety observations and actively promoting a strong health and safety culture
  • Contributing to daily operational meetings and site updates
  • Supporting improvement initiatives and compliance activities across the site
  • Assisting with the delivery of capital projects within your operational area
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site safety at all times

Based in Isleworth, this full-time Shift Technician role with Pertemps Thames Water carries a salary ranging from £28,335 to £38,000 per annum, dependent upon experience. You will be stationed at Mogden Sewage Treatment Works, a vast European facility where daily operations vary considerably. Your primary function is to support the safe running of sludge and pasteurisation assets, working to environmental permits and site protocols. Duties include monitoring asset performance, adjusting processes for optimal compliance, and collaborating with Process Controllers. This position demands a proactive approach to maintaining essential services around the clock. A structured working pattern applies, and relevant technical skills are essential to succeed in this critical operational post.

Base Location

Mogden STW (TW7 7LW)

Working Pattern

12-hour shifts, days and nights on a rotating 6 weekly Panama shift pattern.

Necessary Requirements for the role

Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends

The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role
  • Confidence working independently and making decisions within an operational setting
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices and procedures
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with site teams
  • Full driving licence
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have
  • Experience working within wastewater treatment or a similar mechanical or electrical environment
  • Experience working on sludge or digestion treatment processes
  • Ability to monitor, interpret and respond to process and performance data
  • Knowledge or experience of control systems such as SCADA
  • Familiarity with operational compliance requirements in a regulated environment
  • Experience supporting operational improvements or site-based projects
