Job summary

Culina Group Limited is seeking a Transport Operations Supervisor for our Great Bear site in Harworth. You will oversee 24/7 transport operations, manage Transport Supervisors, and support the Transport Manager to keep costs in line with budgets. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday nights, 22:00–06:00.

Responsibilities include staffing, planning, KPI delivery, safety, and continuous improvement. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and regulatory knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead Depot Transport staff to execute traffic plans meeting service levels.
• Monitor and reduce non-contract maintenance and damage through control measures.
• Ensure fleet is available and declared for planning resource.
• Plan core and agency driver rosters and holidays to meet demand.
• Attend customer reviews and drive service improvements with stakeholders.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and site procedures are followed.

Job Description

Responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Supervisors and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget / forecast expectations.

Working hours: 40 hours per week Monday - Friday (nights) with shifts 22:00 - 06:00

Key Accountabilities

• Manage the Depot Transport staff to execute Traffic plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels
• Reduce non contract maintenance and damage spends through the use of vehicle passports, monitoring of defects being raised.
• Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan the resource
• Manage the resourcing for the site through effective planning of both core drivers and shift patterns through to daily and weekly resourcing of agency drivers
• Manage holiday allocations of drivers ensuring there is enough resource to meet with customer requirements
• Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training and personal development plans
• Ensure all staff are fully trained and have the correct equipment
• Manage any incidents and accidents and follow the process through investigations and the EOA system
• Be responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers clocking on and off shift
• Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures
• Ensure annual MOTs and service intervals on all fleet equipment are carried out on time and the relevant paperwork is obtained
• Attend Monthly Customer review meetings in the absence of the Transport Manager
• Support implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and other areas of the business
• Generate and implement ideas with regards to staff and operational changes, which will help drive continuous improvement
• Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff, both in your department and across the wider business
• Manage and carry out monthly site audit ensuring that all processes are being followed in line with Culina Group policy

Qualifications

Experience, Behavioural & Technical Skills

• Previous supervisory experience within a busy transport environment
• Good commercial knowledge of transport operations including experience of operating in a closed book, shared user environment

• Excellent negotiating skills with the ability to influence and steer
• Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team
• An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills
