Job summary

Culina's Great Bear division is seeking a hands-on logistics supervisor to join our busy distribution site. You will manage driver rotas, plan daily runs, and ensure deliveries and collections meet deadlines while maintaining service levels.

The role requires strong planning, leadership, and communication skills, plus knowledge of tachograph rules and driver hours; CPC National is desirable. Experience in FMCG distribution is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and update daily run summaries to meet delivery deadlines.
• Plan driver runs using the rota, considering holidays and sickness.
• Ensure service levels are met in coordination with other departments.
• Maintain legal compliance on defects, MOTs, and road transport rules.
• Communicate start times, loads, directions, and shifts to drivers clearly.
• Enforce health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
• Support disciplinary hearings and return-to-work procedures.
• Keep up-to-date with tachograph rules and driver hours.

Job description

• Creating and updating daily run summary in order to achieve delivery and collection deadlines.
• Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
• Using the Driver rota, planning runs according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness.
• Ensuring legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT's, etc.
• Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers; communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts, etc.
• Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, as well as all health and safety/safe systems of work policies.
• Assisting with disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedures, etc in order to maintain standards and ensure that employees work at an appropriate level.
  Proven knowledge and experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations.
• Significant transport experience within an FMCG environment would be desirable.
• Planning and organising skills, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet set deadlines under pressure.
• Previous management/ supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
• Good IT skills including MS Office packages with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
• CPC National is desirable but not essential.
