Job summary

Culina Group is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to lead the 24/7 transport operations at our Market Drayton site. You will oversee Transport Supervisors and support the Transport Manager to control costs against budget and forecast while delivering on service levels.

This nights role is 4 on 4 off, 6:30pm–6:30am, with responsibility for resource planning, staff development, incident investigations, safety compliance and continuous improvement across the fleet and depot operations.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Transport & Logistics industry.
• Experience in resource management and scheduling.
• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Proven KPI-driven service delivery experience.
• Strong Health and Safety knowledge.
• Ability to stay focused and detail oriented under pressure.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manage Depot Transport staff to meet service levels.
• Reduce non contract maintenance and damage through checks.
• Ensure fleet is road-ready and declared for planning.
• Resource planning for drivers including agency staff.
• Manage holiday allocations for drivers.
• Develop and motivate the team; training plans.
• Ensure staff trained and equipped.
• Handle incidents and investigations; EOA system.
• Monitor Kronos clocking and shift approvals.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and site procedures.
• Oversee monthly site audits and process adherence.
• Attend monthly customer review meetings and drive improvements.

Job Description

Responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Supervisors and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget / forecast expectations

Working 4 on 4 off Nights, 6:30pm - 6:30am

Key Duties of a Transport Shift Manager:

• Manage the Depot Transport staff to execute Traffic plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels
• Reduce non contract maintenance and damage spends through the use of vehicle passports, monitoring of defects being raised.
• Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan the resource
• Manage the resourcing for the site through effective planning of both core drivers and shift patterns through to daily and weekly resourcing of agency drivers
• Manage holiday allocations of drivers ensuring there is enough resource to meet with customer requirements
• Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training and personal development plans
• Ensure all staff are fully trained and have the correct equipment
• Manage any incidents and accidents and follow the process through investigations and the EOA system
• Be responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers clocking on and off shift
• Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures
• Ensure annual MOTs and service intervals on all fleet equipment are carried out on time and the relevant paperwork is obtained
• Attend Monthly Customer review meetings in the absence of the Transport Manager
• Support implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and other areas of the business
• Generate and implement ideas with regards to staff and operational changes, which will help drive continuous improvement
• Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff, both in your department and across the wider business
• Manage and carry out monthly site audit ensuring that all processes are being followed in line with Culina Group policy

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Transport & Logistics industry.
• Demonstrable experience of successful resource management.
• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's.
• Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes.
• Thrives in a fast paced, challenging and dynamic environment.
• Ability to maintain the very highest levels of attention to detail even when under pressure.
• Good analytical skills, uses data to inform decisions and direct activity.
• Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
