- We speak pet; it may sound funny to humans, but we know what Polly the Parrot needs in her cage, what food Freckles the Hamster needs, and what special diet food Peanut Butter the Rottweiler should be on for his skin allergies.
- Stop, Drop, & Shop with Lucy, who has just found her forever home and needs your help to ensure she has the right food and accessories to make her transition into her forever home pawsitive.

The purr-fect employee is not shy about making a splash and greeting customers. You’ll assist the management team with daily store operations, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, and helping our customers feel at ease while shopping. As a Shift Manager, you will drive daily sales goals and complete tasks as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store and Assistant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritize, assign, and delegate daily goals, tasks, and assignments to the team, ensuring proper completion when manager on duty.
- Monitor team performance on customer service and selling models, communicating observations to the Store Manager / Assistant Manager.
- Celebrate and recognize team efforts and accomplishments.
- Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude, including appropriate communication verbally, in writing, or via email.
- Partner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events and develop relationships with rescue agencies.
- Lead by example, demonstrating excellent customer service, brand, and loyalty awareness.
- Maintain a safe and clean store environment, including animal care and feeding. Protect company assets both tangible and intangible.
Operations and Team Building:
- Support and maintain store and brand standards, operational excellence, and safety requirements.
- Communicate store information effectively to staff and ensure timely completion of actions.
- Support inventory management, including placing orders within budget and driving sales.
· Support in maintaining the fish system, including inventory, ordering, and budgets.
- Partner with the Store Manager for accurate inventory counts and meeting shrink goals.
- Communicate performance gaps to management for timely resolution.
- Support new hire training, merchandising, and community event execution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Business Insight:
- Monitor and react to business needs throughout the shift.
Experience, Education, Certifications:
- Minimum 1 year in retail management
- Enjoy working with animals
- College degree preferred
Job Requirements:
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle preferred
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Heavy lifting up to 55 lbs required
- Mostly standing, moving, and active listening on the sales floor
- Work environment is temperature-stable
- Occasional solo work and potential for pet-related injuries
